Dry Eye Treatment

Do you feel like your eyes sting, burn, or feel scratchy often? Maybe your eyes are red or don’t tear enough? Are your symptoms constant,
every day?

If this sounds all too familiar, you probably have dry eye – a common condition millions of people struggle with daily. At Soni Vision Institute, we specialize in tailored treatment plans that alleviate your symptoms and restore your quality of life.

What is Dry Eye?

Known as dry eye disease or dry eye syndrome, dry eye occurs when our eyes cannot sufficiently hydrate themselves. This ‘eye dehydration’ happens when our tear glands are unable to produce enough tears or the tears they produce are not healthy enough to replenish the eye. The result is uncomfortable and sometimes painful symptoms that can disrupt our daily lives.

There are multiple causes of dry eye, as cases are unique to every individual and lifestyle. Age and hormonal changes are the leading culprits of dry eye.

Dry eye can also be caused by other conditions, such as autoimmune diseases, extended screen time, certain medications, and eye refractive surgeries
(like LASIK).

Dry Eye Symptoms

Every dry eye case is unique and the symptoms can be quite variable. Here are the common symptoms associated with dry eye:

  • Itchiness
  • Burning
  • Stinging
  • Grittiness
  • Watery Eyes/Increased Tear Production
  • Difficulty focusing
  • Eye strain
  • Eye pain

When left untreated, dry eye symptoms only worsen. We need our eyes to live life to the fullest! Thankfully, a dry eye diagnosis is simple to make.

At Soni Vision Institute, we perform these exams routinely to protect your eye health.

Dry Eye Treatments

Fortunately, there are multiple treatment options for dry eye. Dr. Ruhi Soni has years of experience diagnosing and treating patients with dry eye, returning comfort to their everyday lives for the long-term.

After the initial consultation and diagnosis, Dr. Soni will define your treatment needs based on the cause of your dry eye and how symptomatic your condition is. The approach is often multidisciplinary, from pharmaceutical to non-invasive laser therapies, supported by holistic lifestyle interventions suggested by Dr. Soni.

We believe this multi-pronged approach leads to the most optimal symptom reduction, relieving stress, and making it easier to do the things you love.
